I.The Oracle

A. Hexagram 7 is called Shi, or Leading. Other common variations are The Army and The Soldiers. The lower trigram is Kan: gorge or water, and the upper trigram is Kun: field or earth.

B. The Judgment

   1. The Army. The army needs perseverance
       And a strong man.
   2. Good fortune without blame.

C. The Image

  1. In the middle of the earth is water:
      The image of The Army.
  2. Thus the superior man increases his masses,
      By generosity toward the people.

II. My interpretation

A. "Discipline"

As with any soldier setting out to complete a mission, do not let personal feelings intersect the command of duty. Always remember Duty First, and then all will farewell. Within the plane of organizational activities, there are leaders and there are followers. If one is to assume the position of leadership at any given moment one cannot come to the table half-stepping when above all, one has been given a position of authority.

Stays on top of your underlings do not let them relax their toes. Ensure that the right people occupy the right positions, do not promote an underling – just because. Have a factual reason to strengthen the base of your rank and file. Remember the weakest link is the weakest link.

When it comes to educating the people as to where they now stand, and on which direction they should begin to move, it will take a leader who must be endowed with a number of qualities, which should include; experience, one who is viable, well-aged, and one who is of firm correctness.

Lastly, the army is an institution centered on discipline, but let us remember that a man of great leadership qualities is fair and just, and should at times, adhere to leniency.

I.The Oracle

A. Hexagram 5 is named Xu, or Attending. Further variations are Arriving, Waiting or Moistened. The lower trigram is Qian: force or heaven, and the upper trigram is Kan: gorge or water.

B. The Judgment

   1. Waiting. If you are sincere,
       You have light and success.
   2. Perseverance brings good fortune.
   3. It furthers one to cross the great water.

C. The Image

  1. Clouds rise up to heaven:
      The image of Waiting.
  2. Thus the superior man eats and drinks,
And is joyous and of good cheer.

II. My interpretation

A. "Waiting"

Now is a good time to just kick back and dwell on inactivity, for the moment. For now, stay out of the mainstream of things. This hexagram warns us to wait until success is a sure thing. Three people come uninvited, treat them with due reverence and this act alone should also strengthen your position.

I also see one who is waiting on the banks of the great river or sea, but now he is standing on sand, now if he was to be standing on mud he would surely become bogged down and not meet his quota of eventually crossing the great stream. Let your waiting be of fair judgment and on a good foundation, thereby avoiding all injury and bad-mouthing due to unrealized results, which is somewhat subdued.

For now be willing to wait things out, do not let your hopes, expectations, and fears consume the reality of the successful and overdue outcomes. Eat and be merry, but live in the moment.

I.The Oracle

A. Hexagram 52 is Gen, or Bound. Further interpretations are Keeping Still, Mountain and Stilling. Its lower and upper trigrams are the same, gen: bound or  mountain.

B. The Judgment

   1. Keeping Still. Keeping his back still
So that he no longer feels his body.
   2. He goes into his courtyard
And does not see his people.
       No blame.

C. The Image

  1. Mountains standing close together:
      The image of Keeping Still.
  2. Thus the superior man
      Does not permit his thoughts
      To go beyond his situation.

II. My interpretation

A. "Keeping Still"

After reviewing this hexagram, the only precept I can get from it is meditation. It is a time for some quietude and Zen, so to speak. It is true that in order for the face to reflect a calm demeanor, that projection must come from within, just as the lotus flower that floats on a calm pond, serene and sincere it is.

Now is a good time to make these adjustments to your inward appearance, in order to reflect peaceful undertones. You do this in order to reflect a peaceful outward appearance, sort of, "as above, so below". As long as you maintain your inner core, you will be as steady as a rock.

The thing with meditation is to always start with stilling the toes, and then work your way up to stilling your somewhat racing thoughts. Now remember that harboring bad things about other people internally, will eventually ooze out at some point in time, so don't ever go there, literally or telepathically. At all, the best thing to achieve is No Mind, or Zen after being fully absorbed into your meditational practice.

I.The Oracle

A. Hexagram 57 is called Xun, or Ground. Additional variations include The Gentle, the Penetration wind and Calculations. Its lower and upper trigrams are identical, being Xun: ground or wind.

B. The Judgment

   1. The Gentle. Success through what is small.
It furthers one to have somewhere to go.
   2. It furthers one to see the great man.

C. The Image

  1. Winds following one upon the other:
      The image of The Firm Penetrates the middle;
      What is willed is fulfilled.
  2. Thus the superior man

      Spreads his commands abroad
And carries out the will of Heaven.

II. My interpretation

A. "The Gentle"

With this hexagram we see a person who is somewhat in doubt as to when he should capture the opportunity to move forward. This is due to the disposition that he or she has, without cause, placed upon themselves.

A cleansing is needed in order to dispel these superimposed malefactors that are really things of that person's distant past. My way of cleansing is to think of the word AUM, and for sure it does more than cleanse. After a somewhat difficult start, all fear, doubt, hesitations, and inner conflicts are resolved.

Although somethings may seem less evil from another standpoint, do not be carried downstream by such rudimentary thinking. If it was evil before this moment it still resolves as evil in a little while. Some good examples would be, and from speaking in terms of my negative forethoughts, and they are, wanting to drink alcohol, eating meat, other than fish, wanting to eat sweets or sugary items, and as well as indulging with people I should not approach.

We must take care not let the evil of our past life re-emerge due to us being less concerned about, or the carelessness of small idiosyncrasies of the present. Stay the course.

In other words, know what’s what, in terms of right and wrong, stay committed to your corrected course.

Ritsema/Karcher: Ground, the small: Growing. Harvesting: possessing directed going. Harvesting: visualizing Great People. [This hexagram describes your situation in terms of providing an underlying support. It emphasizes that subtly penetrating and nourishing things from below, the action of Ground, is the adequate way to handle it. To be in accord with the time, you are told to enter the situation from below!]

Hexagram 64

By: James Byrd

I.The Oracle

A. Hexagram 64 is named Wei Ji, or Not Yet Fording. Variations include Before Completion and Not Yet Completed. The lower trigram is Kan: gorge or water, and the upper trigram is Li: radiance or fire.

B. The Judgment

   1. Before Completion. Success.
But if the little fox, after nearly completing the crossing,
Gets his tail in the water,
   2. There is nothing that would further.

C. The Image

  1. Fire over water:
The image of the condition before the transition.
  2. Thus the superior is careful

      In the differentiation of things,
So that each finds its place.

II. My interpretation

A. "Before Completion"

This would be a time to somewhat pull back – be not overconfident to the extent of overindulging during the celebration of a hoped for a positive outcome.

For the time being no outward plan or goal is workable. Just ready yourself with inward goals, such as with meditation on positive outcomes and other such things as Qi Gong – jogging, but try not to get your head wet during your excursions at the local pub. Show restraints, for now, don’t go there, save it for the next big party that is now pending.

The same can be said about a rainy day; keep your trips – short if none at all – listen to statistics, something will almost, or an accident will more than likely happen on these types of days. And remember, there is always one near the end of every celebration, a rainy day, that is.

"This hexagram describes your situation in terms of being on the edge of an important change of situation. It emphasizes that waiting and accumulating energy to begin the upcoming move is the adequate way to handle it. To be in accord with the time, you are told to: not-yet ford the stream of events!"
